Whether you are a complete beginner looking to learn a new skill or a more experienced crafter or sewer we are sure you will find a workshop to interest you. We also have a variety of workshops for those who would like to try their hand at new crafts but can’t commit to a weekly class.

ART STUDIO OPEN NOW!!!!! Are you a budding artist but never have a space to work in? Why not take the opportunity of our Art Studio space. For a £25 per month fee (1st monthly) you will receive: 10hrs per month use of shared space (in the company of other like minded people). Space does not need to be booked (members only) but use is restricted to Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays between 10am & 4pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays between 1pm & 9pm. You will also enjoy a free tea or coffee & biscuits at each visit. (Refills chargeable) 25% discount on any art materials you require. Use of easels, tables, sinks and some tools An individual storage box will be provided for your own equipment to be left in the studio so that you can pop in anytime you’re feeling creative. Non-members £5 per hour depending on space being available. Please note: This is a shared social space, where others may be working alongside you.

Have you got an overlocker but not sure how to get the best from it? This short course will help you get started in the right direction. You will learn how to: * Identify the various threads and their purpose * Adjust tension on each of the threads for different fabrics and effects * Set your machine for stitching both with and without utilising the knife/cutting blade You will be making a simple ladies vest top or tote bag using jersey fabric.  (Length of fabric required for vest top will be advised at class as won’t be required on the first evening). Know how will be included, but you will be required to bring or purchase fabric of your choice from the range of jersey fabrics we have in stock in our shop. Please bring with you your own overlocker complete with instruction book and some scraps of fabric - different types. They don’t have to be large pieces but big enough to work on. Please also bring a different colour thread for each spindle (usually 4 but depends on your machine)

Do you struggle getting shop bought garments to fit you? Why don’t you come along to our custom fit paper pattern making class and learn how to make garments that fit properly?  This class is for people who are confident sewers, who can use a sewing machine and are already able to make their own garments.  Please bring along your own sewing machine if you prefer, however, we have machines here which you can use instead.  Please let us know if you intend to bring your own. You will learn:
  • How to select the best fit pattern for your chosen garment
  • All possible adjustment points and to take accurate measurements
  • How to adjust your pattern to custom fit to your true measurement
  • How to make and cut a personalised “pattern block” for future use
You will make pattern blocks for the following: A classic skirt, top, trousers and by combining the skirt and top you will make a dress block. On completion of the course you will have your blocks, notes and the knowledge to custom fit all your future dressmaking projects. Coffee/tea & cake provided every week.

Come along to our 2 day workshop and learn how to transform your furniture into a thing of beauty. Our tutor, Sylvia Forrest will teach you how to strip back your project and re-upholster using modern or traditional methods depending on the age of the item that you bring. Bring a small item i.e. ottoman lid, dining chair, footstool, piano stool etc All tools supplied as well as tea/coffee & cake. Please bring your own lunch. You will also require to purchase & bring upholstery fabric of your choice (if you need advice on quantity required, please send us a photo of your item with dimensions and Sylvia will be able to let you know how much to purchase). There is likely to be a few extra items you need which you can purchase in our shop i.e. foam, horsehair, calico, black platform cloth. This class is for beginners with little or no sewing experience.  You will be taught the basics of how to use a sewing machine, lay and cut out a pattern or any of the skills you require in making your chosen project whether it is a garment, toy or other sewn item.  Advice will be given on suitability of pattern choice. We will talk you through the processes you need, give help and guidance along the way. TERMS & CONDITIONS: If you are signing up for the first time and you have missed the start of the block of 6 classes, you may join the current class at any time and only pay for the remaining weeks.  Once you have attended your first block you will have the opportunity to carry on to the new block of 6 classes.  (These continue on immediately after). You will be required to pay in advance for the new block (by the last class of the previous block).  Any fees unpaid before the start of the new block will mean that your space will be advertised and filled.  Any classes you miss cannot be refunded, however, if we have to cancel a class for any reason, we will add the missed week onto the end of the block.
